Cress on Oak Creek: Reviews & Ratings

The meal was delicious and the service was impeccable. The wait staff and bus staff seemed completely in sync with each other and never missed a beat, we felt well attended to throughout the evening. Our server was very conscious of dietary restrictions and the food runners knew exactly who ordered what. We started with the Squash Fall soup (which was maybe the best squash soup I've ever had) and the Figs. Then we had the Chimichurri Grilled Tiger Shrimp and grain fed Filet (beautifully plated). We also enjoyed two zero-proof cocktails, very good. I've never been to a restaurant with such a low star rating on Yelp that completely blew away my expectations like this. We stayed at L'Auberge de Sedona for a Babymoon and I booked a reservation for Cress at Oak Creek before we arrived and then later went on Yelp to explore menu options and was disappointed to see such a low star rating and thought we maybe made a mistake booking this spot for a celebratory meal but I was so wrong (again, never been somewhere that was excellent but had under 4 stars on Yelp). I wonder if they're under new management or have a new executive chef. Minor of minor critique is perhaps the menu could have a little bit more variety but I thought it reflected the style and culture of the Southwest well. I recommend this restaurant for a special evening in Sedona, the setting along the creek is stunning but the food and the service knocked it out of the park.

We came here for breakfast to enjoy some time on the oak creek for our last day in Sedona. It was a chilly, cloudy morning but we wanted to sit outside for the ambiance. The service staff offered us cozy blankets to keep us warm! The hot cocoa was lovely. Chilaquiles and olive oil pancakes are a must. Highly recommend for a breakfast stop! (Good idea to make a reservation if possible)

A restaurant located on the grounds of the L'Auberge de Sedona resort, Cress on Oak Creek is a picture perfect scene for tranquility. We came here for lunch and had an outdoor dining experience along the Oak Creek. It was so peaceful and relaxing after a long travel day. The waitstaff were all so helpful, attentive and friendly. We were both starving and thirsty and this place delivered on both fronts. Enjoyed a couple of their organic cold pressed drinks (the Golden Green and the Gingersnap). They were both refreshing and rejuvenating. I really liked the gingersnap...a healthy bolt of ginger and a zest of lemon. I scarfed down a well-composed petit salad followed by the Cress BLT with avocado and a generous helping of crispy fries. It was more than I normally eat, but it was that good or I was just that hungry. lol

Every few years my wife and I make the pilgrimage to L'Auberge to dine at the Cress restaurant which overlooks the creek. First and foremost is the ambiance. It's intimate and stunning. Truly second-to-none. Just take a look at the video I posted of the creek, which you view as you dine. It's serene and invigorating for the soul. The reason this review is a 4-star vs 5-star is unfortunately the limited menu, very high prices, and while good, not great food experience. In previous visits to this restaurants, we've thoroughly enjoyed the food. There was options and variety. However, not sure if this was specific to New Years or a new thing, but our only option was a 3 or 6 course meal. We opted for the 3-course, which was $150 per person, drinks not included (!). I'm not one to normally criticize price, but the culinary experience didn't live up to the cost. The soup was great, the steelhead trout main dish was just ok, and the pistachio cake dessert was great. Drinks were great as well. All in all, we had a good time and enjoyed the scenery. But, for $400 with gratuity included, we feel the culinary experience could have been better.
